Concept Development

Our concept development process transforms ideas into actionable plans and detailed doorset specifications. We assess design integrity, durability, functionality, compliance, and budget alignment to ensure your project is practical, sustainable, and ready for the next stage of development.

Doorsets are no longer just functional components; they’ve evolved into complex design elements that must meet architectural intent, technical performance, and regulatory compliance

Specifiers must balance a wide range of priorities:

  • Design – ensuring the doorset aligns with the overall aesthetic and architectural vision

  • Compliance – meeting stringent fire, safety, and accessibility standards

  • Functionality – integrating performance requirements such as acoustics, security, and durability

  • Longevity – selecting solutions that perform reliably over time, even in demanding environments

  • Sustainability - selecting materials and systems that support environmental goals and planning requirements

Even small missteps in specification can lead to significant problems later—often surfacing during construction or, worse, once the building is in use.

Procurement managers face a different set of challenges. Alongside ensuring compliance and design fit, they must carefully consider:

  • Design costs - balancing design ambition with budget realities, including premium finishes or bespoke elements

  • Deployment costs – including installation efficiency and contractor coordination

  • Whole-life value – not just initial cost, but maintenance needs, lifecycle performance, and warranty support

Bringing all these factors together requires close collaboration across teams—and a deep understanding of both regulatory obligations and practical realities.

Balanced Solution Development

We collaborate with clients at any stage—whether shaping initial ideas or refining late-stage concepts—to develop fully resolved and balanced solutions. Our service includes the creation of detailed drawings, mood boards, datasheets, specifications, schedules and physical samples to support informed decision-making and approvals. We also assist in developing logistics and deployment plans, ensuring that each concept is not only well-designed but also practical and ready for real-world implementation.

Strategic Defination

Developing a clear and comprehensive understanding of the client's requirements, project constraints, and overall boundaries. This foundational phase ensures that every decision aligns with the project’s goals, setting the stage for focused and effective design development.

Concept Development

Building on the strategic brief, we develop initial concept designs that explore creative possibilities within the project’s parameters. We present mood boards, drawings, outline specifications, and indicative budgets to communicate intent and gather feedback

Concept Refinement

In this phase, we refine the chosen concept into a more resolved design, integrating stakeholder feedback, technical requirements, and practical considerations. We develop clearer visuals, detailed layouts, updated specifications, and revised budgets to ensure the concept is fully aligned.

Prototyping

This phase often includes the production of prototypes and physical samples, allowing for hands-on evaluation of materials, finishes, and functionality. These tangible elements help validate the design before moving into final detailing and implementation.

Design Solidification

With the design finalized, we prepare a comprehensive package ready for project deployment. This includes all final drawings, specifications, schedules, and costs —ensuring a smooth transition from design, procurement and delivery
