Timber Doorsets
What Are Doorsets
A doorset is a complete, pre-assembled unit consisting of a door leaf, frame, hinges, hardware (such as locks, latches, and handles), and often seals or thresholds—all designed, tested, and supplied as a single integrated system. Unlike traditional doors, which are built from separate components on-site, doorsets are manufactured and certified as unified systems to meet specific performance standards such as BS 476 and BS EN 1634. This approach ensures consistency, reliability, and traceability throughout the product’s lifecycle, from factory production to installation and use.
A fire doorset is far more than just a door in a frame — it is a precisely engineered fire safety system, designed to work seamlessly with other passive fire protection elements in a building, such as compartment walls and fire-rated glazing. Together, these elements create an effective fire barrier that restricts the spread of fire and smoke, allowing safe evacuation and supporting firefighting efforts.
By meeting these stringent requirements, certified fire doorsets provide building owners, contractors, and occupants with confidence that the installed system will perform as intended in a fire emergency — safeguarding escape routes, protecting property, and ultimately saving lives.
Doorsets Aren't Created Equal
When it comes to procuring doorsets, there’s more to consider than just cost. Aesthetics, functionality, durability, sustainability, certification, and installation all matter — but these factors are often misunderstood or overlooked.

That’s where we’re different.
We don’t just supply doorsets. We create bespoke opening solutions tailored to suit the complex requirements of refurb and maintenance projects.
From concept to specification, we work closely with you to explore options, break down alternatives, and develop solutions that genuinely complement your project — both visually and technically.
To support better decision-making, our in-house created AI system JETSPIRE generates detailed design, commercial, and specification data — helping you balance performance, compliance, and cost with clarity and confidence.
An Industry Problem
Most doorset solutions on the market are designed with new-build projects in mind, where site access, dimensions, and conditions are relatively predictable. However, refurbishment and maintenance works bring a very different set of challenges that these standardized products rarely address. Access to work areas is often restricted, delivery routes can be constrained, and installation may need to take place in occupied or sensitive environments with minimal disruption. In addition, existing openings are frequently irregular or non-standard, making it difficult – if not impossible – to use commodity-sized products without extensive onsite modifications.
This mismatch between off-the-shelf solutions and real-world refurbishment conditions creates inefficiencies, delays, and additional costs.

High Efficiency Doorsets
High Efficiency Doorsets (HED) are factory-engineered to reduce onsite installation time and resource demands, while delivering consistent high quality and improving the compliance of the finished installation. They’re the perfect choice for refurbishment and maintenance projects where speed matters and onsite conditions are less than ideal.
To assist our customers in creating their prefect, bespoke HED solution, we provide design enhancement options with all of our proposals and assign a Doorset Efficiency Rating (DER). The DER is a composite performance metric that integrates onsite installation efficiency with post-installation product quality. It is derived from the assessment of onsite resource requirements to finish the product, the volume of onsite waste generated during installation, and the time taken to complete installation. Additional datapoints —such as decorating, component modification, design adaptability and component installation accuracy are also included.
