Environmental Mission

The construction industry has a significant impact on our environment, from resource consumption and energy use to waste generation and carbon emissions. Looking after the environment is vital to protect natural resources, reduce pollution, and combat climate change.

Some reports suggesting the construction industry accounts for up to 60% of the UK's total waste

The construction sector accounts for 45% of the UK's total carbon emissions, with 27% from domestic buildings and 18% from non-domestic buildings.

The construction industry is responsible for 18% of the UK's large particle pollution

5 million tonnes of construction waste ends up in landfill sites across the UK each year.

Product Sourcing

As part of our commitment to sustainable construction practices, we conduct a thorough environmental vetting process for all suppliers. This includes evaluating their carbon footprint, waste management policies, energy efficiency measures, and compliance with relevant environmental standards such as ISO 14001. We prioritize partners who actively reduce embodied carbon, adopt circular economy principles, and transparently report on their environmental performance.

All suppliers are required to demonstrate alignment with our environmental and sustainability benchmarks:

  • Demonstrate compliance with ISO 14001 or an equivalent environmental management and production system

  • Commit to measurable reductions in carbon emissions year-on-year

  • Timber materials sourced from sustainable sources, with registered chain of custody (PEFC or FSC)

  • Less than 10% manufacture waste

  • Incorporate circular economy practices, including reuse or recycling of materials

  • Reduced energy consumption through optimized factory processes

  • Use low-emission or electric vehicles for transport and logistics

  • Provide transparent data on resource usage and environmental impacts on request

  • Train staff in sustainable practices and environmental awareness

  • Use of low VOC's and none hazardous paints and adhesives only

Design Guidance

We recognise that the timber doorset industry is still developing accurate and tangible environmental data to support fully informed sustainable decision-making. Our company is working extensively to address this challenge by collaborating with environmental agencies, certification bodies, and industry partners to improve data transparency and reporting. In the meantime, we are committed to helping our customers select more environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions by providing clear guidance on material choices, responsible sourcing, and best-practice installation.

This includes:

  • Providing product place of origins

  • Product chain of custody options

  • Product BREEAM contributions

  • Product VOC data

  • Material classification type

  • Product end of life information

  • Low-Emission transport and logistics plan development
